There are distinctive differences between teaching and coaching. All the information on this page is for people who want to be taught to sail or who want to improve their sailing to an intermediate level. Pete’s manner is always to go down the democratic teaching route - by allowing you to develope your own methods within the boundaries of competence you will be in a position to exploit your own strengths.
Sailing may be enjoyed by all, regardless of shape, fitness, age or ability. The joys of escaping the land are a highly desirable experience for most people. Many people find the lure of this environment so strong that they persist to do so, despite scaring themselves witless due to a lack of competence. It is Pete’s mission for you to be able to enjoy the environment that water affords whilst equally gaining satisfaction from your own newfound sailing skills.

The RS 400 is the boat that we consider represents the best yet most user friendly in modern sailing design. It is usually considered too expensive to run by “normal” schools, but Pete wants the best, and he considers this boat to be a perfect tool - it is stable, fast and fogiving, yet will clearly reward the better sailor.

1 hour lesson £80
2 hour lesson £150
3 hour lesson £200
1 day - (6 hours) £375
If you wish to have the lesson in the RS400, add £15 to each session regardless of duration of lesson. Pete will rig the boat prior to the session so your lesson is entirely about sailing the boat. If you wish to take the lesson in your own boat then you may wish to either rig it yourself before the session, or Pete will rig with you and give you any helpful rigging tips as a part of the lesson.
Please feel free to contact Pete with any requirements, whether you’re an outright beginner, or you’ve just returned from a holiday or any other sailing course or experience which has led you to want more knowledge or understanding. Confidence, competence and development of skills are the areas focussed on. Safety is of paramount concern, and in this sport is very closely allied to competence. It is therefore important to learn in the best possible manner, and that starts with one to one tuition in a modern design, well maintained boat!
